Air quality in the seven-county metropolitan area is expected to reach unhealthy levels for sensitive people, and indoor burning restrictions are posted and health officials urge motorists to limit driving.
An Action Day for Particulates was posted at 4 p.m. Tuesday by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the alert runs through 4 p.m. Wednesday. The seven counties are: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson.
Fine particulate concentrations are expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups Tuesday in the Denver-metro area, before improving and returning to the moderate category Wednesday morning, according to Colorado Air Quality.
The sensitive group — people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children — should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.
The Winter High Pollution Advisory Program is coordinated by the Air Pollution Control Division of the CDPHE and air pollution forecasts are issued daily from October 31 through March 31.
